Assistance to help pay your bill

If you qualify for federal, state or local income-eligible payment assistance programs, you could receive help paying your bill. To find out which programs could apply to you, start with our eligibility calculator. Please note, income may not be the only requirement to receive funds through these programs.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

2025 application period closed April 4

This federal program helps eligible households maintain utility service during winter months.  For more information, please visit the state’s LIHEAP resource page at LIHEAP (pa.gov).  You can also reach out to us via our Energy Assistance hotline at 1-800-272-2714  for more information regarding LIHEAP or additional assistance programs.

LIHEAP CRISIS

2025 application period closed April 4

If you face shut off due to lack of payments or an unsafe utility condition, you can get a grant. These federally funded crisis grants may be applied to accounts where service has been shut off for safety or non-payment and may be used to halt a pending shut off during the winter months.  For more information, please visit the state’s LIHEAP resource page at LIHEAP (pa.gov).  You can also reach out to us via our Energy Assistance Hotline at 1-800-272-2714 for more information regarding LIHEAP or additional assistance programs.

Dollar Energy Fund

You could get a grant to help pay off past-due bills or restore service. This program is available if you have exhausted all other available assistance programs.

Emergency Repair Program

This program provides assistance for repair or replacement of gas furnaces, water heaters, gas lines and space heaters serving as the primary heat source for a home. This program is designed to address emergency situations that involve unsafe conditions for our customers who own and live in their home. Funds are limited on an annual basis. Start by calling us at 1-800-537-7431.

Security Deposit Assistance Fund

You could receive financial help when a security deposit is required for establishing utility service. This may be awarded once within a 12-month period on a first-come, first-served basis and doesn’t have to be paid back. For more information, please call 1-800-537-7431.

WarmWise Low Income Usage Reduction Program

This program helps income eligible customers who have high gas usage, better manage costs by reducing how much energy they use.

Customer Assistance Program (CAP)

This program offers affordable payment plans for income eligible customers. CAP can help with long-term solutions to chronic bill payment challenges. To get started, call us at 1-800-537-7431 or apply online at hardshiptools.org/MyApp.

Income Eligible Audits and Rebates Program

If you’re income eligible, you could get a free home energy audit, an energy efficiency plan with estimated cost savings and potentially free installation of energy efficiency measures.

Customer Assistance Referral and Evaluation Services (CARES)

We know that life can sometimes surprise you with the unexpected, but we offer a helping hand during temporary hardships. CARES can help with basic budget counseling, customized payment plans, and referrals to energy grant programs and community resources. To get started, call us at 1-800-537-7431.
