We look for leakage, exposed lines, corrosion, meter damage, encroachments and improper venting. This inspection must be completed by {{date:d}} to continue your gas service.

The following are the Safety Inspection Terms & Conditions:

  • Federal law mandates that Columbia Gas perform a safety inspection on your service line and meter setting. This inspection must be completed to continue your gas service.
  • If we must terminate your service, you may face a delay in restoring your service, and your rate may change if you buy natural gas from a Customer CHOICE Program supplier.
  • If service is terminated, you will also need to re-establish automatic bill payment, budget payment plan or other payment arrangements, eligibility for assistance programs, and insurance and repair services.
  • It is required to have an adult (18 years or older) present at your location on the scheduled date and time of the safety inspection.
  • It is required to have sufficient lighting in the area(s) where the service technician will be working (meter, thermostat and gas appliances).
  • If there are animals on the property, they must be secured in an area away from where our technician will be working (meter, gas appliances, thermostat, interior and exterior house lines), otherwise our technician will be advised not to enter the premises.

It is required to have an adult (18 years or older) present at your location on the scheduled date and time of your safety inspection.

It is also required to have sufficient lighting in the area(s) where the technician will be working (meter, thermostat and gas appliances).

And if there are animals on the property, they must be secured in an area away from where our technician will be working, including interior and exterior house lines, otherwise our technician will be advised not to enter the premises.

Our technician will make a minimum of 2 attempts to call you and if there is not an answer, a message will be left advising you to contact us to reschedule. The Call Ahead number may appear as the Columbia Gas toll-free number, Private, Unknown or Restricted. Please unblock any restrictions to ensure the phone call can be received.
In case our technician is delayed or otherwise needs to call you prior to arrival, please verify the phone number we have on file for your account is up-to-date. Check your phone number on the Manage Account > Contact Info page here.
