Digger DogTM Safety First!

811 is the national phone number that your parents must call if
they are planning to dig in their yard. By calling 811, they are directed
to Pennsylvania’s One Call Center which will notify the utility companies to locate the underground facilities in your yard before they start digging.

Projects You Might Be Helping You Parents With
  • Planting a tree
  • Putting in plants and gardens
  • Removing tree roots
  • Digging a pond
  • Pouring concrete
  • Installing a mailbox, fence, deck or swing set

What You Can Do
  • Have your parents call 811 before they dig. It's the law!
  • Help your parents outline projects with white paint before the locators arrive.
  • Help your parents identify what the painted color marks mean after they come and mark where the utilities are located.
