Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania was recognized recently as the United Way of Washington County’s first place, top campaign contributor at the Washington County Annual Campaign Celebration & Awards Luncheon. Columbia Gas and employees donated upwards of $165,000 to the United Way in 2018-2019.

"Our employees work and live in the communities where we deliver natural gas, but their service to the community doesn't stop there," said Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania President Mike Huwar. "Throughout the year, our employees continue to raise the bar with their generosity, increasing donations for the United Way campaign, giving generously of their time, money and resources."

"This is the twelfth consecutive year that our employees have increased donations for the Campaign," said Communications, Municipal Relations and Community Engagement Director Sarah Barczyk. "Throughout the year, employees serve on the non-profit's Board of Directors, volunteer with Day of Caring events and assist with the United Way's Community Impact Panels."

"In addition to being named top campaign contributor, Columbia Gas was also recognized for outstanding campaign practices, receiving the United Way Campaign Excellence Award," said United Way of Washington County Executive Director Ann Hrabik. "Columbia Gas employees organized creative fundraisers like dessert, hot dog and ice cream sales to bolster employee donations."

As part of the United Way Campaign, many Columbia Gas employees elected to designate their donations to non-profit that focus on safety, economic and workforce development, environmental sustainability, STEM and energy education and basic needs and hardship assistance.
