To support Make-A-Wish® and its mission of creating life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania employees today presented a $5,000 donation to Make-A-Wish® Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia to grant a wish for a child in need.

In efforts to raise funds to benefit Make-A-Wish, Columbia Gas employees organized their own golf outing and collected money from co-workers, raising approximately $2,500. Columbia Gas then matched the funds raised from local employees, totaling a $5,000 donation. “Make-A-Wish is a special organization that provides memorable opportunities to children battling critical illnesses,” said Operations Center Manager Mike Tice. “By granting a wish it is our hope to provide hope and strength to those children.”

“All money that is donated goes towards granting a wish of a local child in the Greater Pennsylvania area,” said Make-A-Wish®  Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia Development Coordinator Shenell Pooran. “The joy children have from their wish being granted has an everlasting impact on the child and their family.”

“In efforts to raise money for Make-A-Wish we planned a golf outing, despite having limited resources and time the event was a success,” said Field Engineer Cory Cercone.  “I’m extremely proud of everyone for coming together to exceed our expectations of the proceeds. With the feedback and excitement we received from everyone who attended I cannot wait to raise the bar and grow this golf outing for the years to come and continue to donate to Make-A-Wish.”

Columbia Gas employees are passionate about improving lives in our local communities and hope that their donation helps to grant a wish come true this Valentine’s Day. For more information on Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania’s commitment to community support, please visit ColumbiaGasPA.com/givingback.
