Donation will help replenish food and personal hygiene supplies

Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania employees volunteered their energy and time at Somerset Area Food Pantry recently, helping distribute food and personal hygiene supplies to qualified individuals throughout the local community.

“We thank Columbia Gas Pennsylvania for their continued interest and support of the Food Pantry and most importantly, the residents of Somerset County,” said Food Pantry Site Director George Stein. “All funds, including the donation by Columbia Gas, are used to purchase food and approved supplies for qualified clients.”

The Somerset Area Food Pantry currently serves approximately 335 families, which includes nearly 800 individuals. Nearly a fourth of these individuals are living with a disability. Approximately 30 volunteers, all of which dedicate their time and talents without compensation, staff the Food Pantry.

“The service the Somerset Area Food Pantry provides to the local community is such a blessing to so many families,” said Columbia Gas Community Engagement Manager Sarah Perry. “We are humbled to be a very small part of this service and assisting families in need.”

The Somerset Area Food Pantry currently operates on a weekly basis from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. each Wednesday. For more information about the Somerset Area Food Pantry, including how to obtain food and eligibility, please contact Trinity Lutheran Church at 814-445-5446 or trinluth918@verizon.net.
