Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania welcomed customers and Washington County community members to the Main Street Farmers Market last Thursday, celebrating the start of summer and recognizing the importance of locally grown produce. The natural gas utility presented a $1,500 donation to Main Street Farms Market non-profit and distributed free reusable grocery bags to Market patrons.

“At Columbia Gas, we support community organizations that help to protect, conserve and celebrate the environment,” said Sarah Perry, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Community Engagement Manager. “We encourage community members to visit the Farmers Market every Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. throughout the summer and through late October.”

Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania employees volunteered at the Farmers Market and provided fun, temporary, kids 811 Call Before You Dig themed, tattoos for children in attendance.

“The Farmers Market is a local non-profit and we love the help of volunteers and the generous charitable donations, like that of Columbia Gas, to help make the Market thrive,” said Main Street Farmers Market Volunteer Coordinator and Board President Suzanne Ewing.

Main Street Farmers Market offers the finest and freshest locally grown produce (both organic and local farm-grown); choice meats, eggs, and dairy products; and excellent prepared foods – fresh-baked bread, pastas, salsas, and more. Main Street Farmers Market is open and available to the public every Thursday from mid-May throughout mid-October from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is currently located at 139 South Main Street, Washington, PA 15301.
