Friday, June 02, 2017

Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Inc., presented the non-profit Beaver Area Heritage Museum with a $2,000 contribution in support of its mission to preserve local historical artifacts and celebrate Beaver’s rich history.

“Columbia Gas has been part of Beaver neighborhoods since 1885,” said local Columbia Gas Operations Center Manager Mike Tice. “Both Columbia Gas and the Beaver Area Heritage Foundation are committed to the investment of the region’s future. Columbia Gas applauds the Beaver Area Heritage Foundation for its dedication in preserving the rich history of the neighborhoods we call home.”

The Beaver Area Heritage Museum has recently been chosen as one of the inaugural hosts for a new traveling exhibition, We Can Do It! WWII, presented by the Senator John Heinz History Center. Through June 11th, attendees will have the chance to discover Western Pennsylvania’s incredible impact on the home, industrial, and battle fronts during World War II.

“The museum provides the citizens of Beaver County with an opportunity to explore the area’s extraordinary past and its role in historical events large and small,” said museum co-chair Ed McLaughlin. “Our exhibits, log house experience and collection of tens of thousands of local artifacts allow residents to become totally immersed in their community’s history.”

Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Inc., Safe Digging mascot Digger Dog™ also assisted in the check presentation, reminding the public that calling 8-1-1 before you dig can help to keep their community, and its remarkable history, safe.

“Calling 8-1-1 at least three business days before you want to begin work is a free service for homeowners and a simple procedure to ensure your own safety and the safety of the entire community,” said Damage Prevention Coordinator Stephen Dobrich.
