Edible Earth Farm welcomes Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania to tour operation on Earth Day and accepts $5,000 in support of program improvements

Wednesday, April 26, 2017

Donation will help the Edible Earth Farm program to continue to provide affordable, high quality, organic food to residents in and around western Pennsylvania

During an Earth Day tour of Edible Earth Farm in its new home in Sandy Lake, Pa., Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania employees presented a $5,000 donation to the recently relocated facility. The donation was made to the farm with the assistance of the non-profit organization, Idea Foundry.

Edible Earth Farm made the move from Tionesta, Pa., to the larger plot of land in Mercer County in response to increased customer demand for fresh produce. “With the move, came funding needs,” said April Parker, manager of Edible Earth Farm. “We currently have a fundraising campaign in place and are thankful for the generous donation by Columbia Gas. Community donations will allow us to continue to provide affordable, high quality, organic food to our western Pennsylvania footprint.”

“Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania is committed to environmental stewardship,” said Sarah Perry, Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania Community Engagement Manager. “We humbled to support community organizations like Edible Earth Farms that help to protect and conserve the environment.”

Edible Earth Farm manages one of Western Pennsylvania’s largest farm direct Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs, delivering certified organic produce and other foods to many communities spanning Butler and Allegheny counties.

“What makes our CSA, fresh food delivery program unique, is the opportunity to choose which produce is delivered every week,” said April. “Most farm delivery programs do not give you an option to choose. We think this choice is a great benefit, and has encouraged those a bit more hesitant to participate in a CSA to try it out.”

There are limited spots still available for the 2017 Edible Earth fresh produce delivery, CSA program. For more information regarding Edible Earth Farm, how to donate to their Fund a Farm Campaign and also to register for the CSA, visit http://edibleearthfarm.com.
