Columbia Gas Encourages Budget Payment Plan Enrollment

Reduce the impact of weather and natural gas prices by spreading heating costs over 12 months

April 30, 2010

Canonsburg, Pa. – Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania, Inc. today reminds customers that the month of May is a good time to enroll in its popular Budget Payment Plan.

“Our Budget Payment Plan is a great opportunity for customers to manage their winter heating bills by spreading the cost over the course of the year,” said Mark Kempic, Director of Rates and Regulatory Affairs for Columbia Gas. “The Plan helps to reduce spikes in heating bills that often occur in the winter with greater gas usage and helps customers plan their household budget more effectively. We encourage customers to plan ahead by enrolling in the Budget Payment Plan now so that they are prepared for next winter. ”

Budget Payment Plan Advantages

Easier Budgeting – It’s much easier to budget household expenses when gas bills don’t fluctuate. Customer bills will remain the same month-to-month on the Budget Payment Plan.
Convenience – The Budget Payment Plan is a free customer service provided by Columbia Gas.
Accurate Billing – Budget Payment Plan-enrolled customer accounts are reviewed periodically throughout the year in order to keep accounts current.
Planning Ahead – Higher natural gas bills are expected during the heating season due to greater gas usage, so summer is the time to look ahead and prepare. Budget Payment Plan participants stretch their winter heating costs over the summer to prevent higher winter bills.

Three Easy Ways to Enroll

Columbia Gas customers who are currently not enrolled in the Budget Payment Plan can enroll in the Plan in one of three ways:

1. Bill Payment – Budget Payment Plan amounts appear on customer’s May, June and July bills. Customers simply pay that amount for natural gas service and are enrolled in the program.
2. Online – Columbia Gas customers can enroll in the Budget Payment Plan by logging onto their account at www.ColumbiaGasPa.com.
3. By Phone – Customers can enroll by calling Columbia Gas’ automated self-service telephone system at 1-888-460-4332.
